Tell me more: I need a better description. What color is it? Can you feel a part of the tooth missing? Does the tooth hurt? Was it recently restored? If recently restored it could be extra filling material or cement and there is no harm. If it has been a long time since you have had your teeth cleaned it could be a piece of tarter or food.

Swallow filling?: It sounds as if you may have swallowed a portion of a filling that has broken off. Without any other history here that would be my best interpretation, and it usually presents no cause for alarm, however, it is not normal for things to just break like that and is likely an indication of something more going on. I recommend you see your dentist asap.
