It will be okay...: The white is the injured but healing tissue...this sounds very normal a couple of days post-injury. The swelling is also still normal - there are lots of blood vessels to your face, so any injury can lead to lots of swelling. Have him suck on popsicles to get the cold to reduce the swelling.

Probably OK: I would, however, make an appointment with a Pedodontist, a Pediatric Dental Specialist (for all the same reasons you see a Pediatrician, a Pediatric Medical Specialist) to evaluate the wound, the course of wound healing, the amount of swelling, the health of the baby teeth that were involved, the health of the underlying developing permanent teeth, and to establish a baseline.
