Diet and Exercise: First make sure you have tried all conservative measures. Weight loss can be achieved by changing your diet and increasing your activity. Keep a food journal for a week. Add up all your calories and calculate your average. If you can reduce your average by 500 per day this would work out to losing a 1 lb/ wk. If you just walk half an hour a day in addition to this you may lose close to 2/ wk.

See below: First realistic dieting and exercise. If that is not possible due to other medical conditions, then certain types of weight loss surgery are long-lasting. Liposuction needs to be done in each region and can re-develop fat if you don't change your habits or control absorption (via surgery).

Weight loss first: Weight loss - either via the traditional methods or gastric surgery - would be first. Liposuction would not be an effective or safe way to lose weight - it's really only for contouring diet-resistant areas.

Weight Loss: Liposuction surgery is indicated for patients who have already achieved a long-term stable weight through any means necessary. Most commonly this is accomplished through diet and exercise. Sometimes patients benefit from help from personal trainers and/or nutritionists. Best wishes.
