Neither: Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Gastric bypass is not a body contouring procedure. You are comparing apples to oranges in that regard. Liposuction complications are rare and transient, whereas gastric bypass complications may have prevalent and longer term consequences that are not easily reversed. Liposuction complications may include contour deformities, needing correction.

Totally Different...: They are really two different things entirely. Gastric bypass is a weight loss tool for those that have significant weight to lose, at times close to 100 lb. Liposuction is a body shaping tool and not weight loss at all and can be used by people who's weight is very close to normal...

Different...: The procedures that you are comparing our very different when it comes to their indications, potential risk/complications, efficacy etc. Liposuction surgery, for example is not meant to help patients drop weight; it is a procedure designed to treat diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue for patients who have already achieved a long-term stable weight.
