Possibly : If the scar is raised, it may have become a keloid. This is a thickened raised scar which can often be painful. Keloids can be treated in the office with a series of monthly injections which may help flatten the scar and make it less symptomatic. Scar products such as kelocote or scarguard may also help. Consult a dermatologist to see what options would work.

Nuisance: Unlikely to be a serious item. So the docs do not want to intervene. Scar revision and steroids are sometimes used, but prefer that cardiac status be reassessed before any surgery. And new pain and infection can occur. Assess risks and benefits.

Post bypass: Occasional pain occurs. If the incision is markedly unstable, this could be the cause.
