Not practical!: Drastic efforts to lose weight do not work well and do not last...So don't even try this approach. To lose weight you need to eat less but not quit because controlling weight is a life long discipline. So eat a balanced meal with calorie restriction in a way that is practical and enjoyable. Not eating anything is a punishment which no body deserves! add daily exercise to your diet for better resul.

That depends: That depends on gender, muscle mass & initial size. For instance a morbidly obese person may be able to still eat a fair amount & still lose weight whereas her or his skinnier counterpart may not get that same impact.

It depends...: This depends on your size, activity level and the type of calories (low-glycemic foods help the most). Most people will lost weight on a 1200 calorie diet but weight loss on such a diet will be temporary unless you make long-term changes in your diet. You are more likely to become deficient in vitamins and minerals so should take a multivitamin. Please see http://bit.Ly/19csbtw and my comment:.

The key to losing weight is to eat less, but not all calories are created equal. Sugars & simple carbs from grains esp cause weight gain. I like Dr. Furhman's diet: www.drfuhrman.com/library/foodpyramid.aspx Dr. Weil has useful info: www.huffingtonpost.com/andrew-weil-md/carbohydrates-weight-loss_b_1937312.html- see his "discuss that" link in his article. Exercise is also important. Good luck!

Fewer than you burn: To lose weight you need to have a negative balance of calories, i.e., burn more than you consume. You may reduce you intake and increase the burn by exercising, doing both is generally essential. It would help to know how much you weight, how tall you are and what is your goal?
