IBS: Irritable bowel syndrome (ibs or spastic colon) is a symptom-based diagnosis characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits. Nausea has been associated in some patients. Ibs is not, however, traditionally associated with sensory pain on touch. Any nausea present with ibs may respond to 5ht3 antagonists owing to their antiemetic properties.
