A member asked:

I was diagnosed with high risk hpv and i'm getting a colposcopy in a few weeks. i'm freaking out! how likely will it cause cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HPV & Cancer: We know that strains of high risk hpv can cause cancer. Fortunately, with close follow up, the abnormal cells can be removed before a serious cancer will occur. As long as you have follow up as recommended by your gyn, it's unlikely that cancer will develop.
