A member asked:

How long does colitis last i've been on a strong antibiotic for a full week now but im still having pain?

Assuming that: Your doctor found a bacterial colitis and he is treating you for it with antibiotics, you should be seeing improvement after one week. If you are not, it is time to consider other causes of colitits, such as c. Difficile colitis, ulcerative colitis, parasites, etc. Go back to the doctor and ask for referral to GI specialist if necessary for possible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.
