Extraction or ortho: For a molar tooth--and I am guessing you are referring to the very back tooth we usually call a "wisdom" tooth--that is pointing into the cheek, extraction is the typical solution. The tooth is not functional in that position, and can cause some problems to the cheek and adjacent teeth if not dealt with. Another option would be to straighten the tooth, but that would only be for non wisdom teeth.

Extraction: Considering your age and explanation this is most likely your wisdom tooth. He will probably recommend an extraction since that tooth is in a non functional position. This is a very common procedure and healing is typically very quick.
