Needs to be seen: I'm sorry, but we would have to clinically examine you in order to give you some insight as to why you see and feel what you do, as well as whether or not it was related to the extracted molar. With missing teeth, there can be loss of bone and support for the cheek.

Soft tissue: I cannot comment your particular case without seeing you . However, if your dentist has seen you and told you the soft cheek tissue has grown more into the missing molar space, it is common that we see such an incidence. Soft tissue--cheek, gums, tongue, lips--is supported by many blood vessels which have 'pressure' from the blood. If space becomes available, it may become slightly fuller.

Recheck area: if the area is really swollen or sensitive to touch get a second x-ray to rule out a remaining piece of root or bone spicule
