Depends…: Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific activities and/or traveling after surgery. He/she will know exactly how you are doing, whether or not you have experienced any complications, exactly what your plans are and what you plan to do while you are traveling. Do not underestimate the physical and emotional “recovery.” associated with tummy tuck surgery.

1 month: Studies show an increased risk for blood clots (dvt and pulmonary embolism) for the first month after general anesthesia. If you can avoid travelling during this time, it would be safer.

Minimum 2 weeks: It is important to remain close to your plastic surgeon during the first 2 weeks after a tummy tuck, or at least until no drains remain and there's no evidence of fluid accumulation (seroma) or infection. The other concern is development of blood clots in the leg veins, which can cause serious health issues (pulmonary embolism).
