My son, 36, has mid back pain, ice pack helps the pain for a while but it returns, says he injured it working out 3 years ago, never went away, it's one spot to the left of spine, what could be the cause? could this be serious? i'm very concerned?

Sometimes, small stress fractures can occur, which may elude discovery on standard X-rays but may be visualized via the use of a bone scan or a CAT scan. Discuss this with your physician.
