A member asked:

My 36 y/o son injured his middle back, just to left of spine, working out w/weights,happened 4 years ago, got better but 2 years ago he reinjured same spot, he gets some pain there when lying down on it, what can he do? any specific exercise? serious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Strains of the midback are quite common in people who lift heavy weights, but since his symptoms have been persistent for 2 years raises possibility of a herniated intervetebral disc.Other possibilities are early development of facet arthritis or degenerative disc disease of his spine. Has he had X-Rays of his midspine? MRI? Orthopedic consultation? Improper exercises, poor lifting technique worsen
