If you have typical BV including symptoms (mostly strong vaginal odor, sometimes discharge), you should be treated, probably with metronidazole. However, BV usually does not include inflammation. You should be tested for common STDs, if possibly at risk based on your and any partner's sexual lifestyle. Good luck.
