Syncope and TIA can have similar signs and symptoms so she should follow up with her doctor to see if any further work-up is needed. She can see a cardiologist as well as a neurologist to have more testing done to be certain that no further treatment is needed. An emergency evaluation is the first step in making a diagnosis but follow-up is definitely needed. Good luck!

Follow up will be needed in order to better understand what might have caused her syncope and prevent, if possible, future ones. Her primary care doc will be best to start with.

I agree with Dr. F's advice. I've had a handful of patients through the years who fainted for no obvious reason& on treadmill stress testing had coronary artery blockages requiring angioplasty. These patients had no obvious cardiac symptoms at any time prior to the syncopal episodes. My practice is to do treadmill stress testing as well as Holter monitor in any adult who faints for unclear reasons
