You do not say which med is now being prescribed for blood pressure. Some meds do take a while to take full effect and, if it also affects heart rate, this needs to be taken into consideration. You should call the doctor who takes care of your blood pressure and review your readings as well as the medication and dosing. It is possible you need a different med or that the new med needs more time.

If the Prednisone has been discontinued, discuss whether you should be treated with your previous medication. Discuss reduce salt intake, closely monitor yo BP and send a log of readings with time and date associated. Check a urinalysis, watch for signs of dizziness and shortness of breath.
