Usually works fast: I don't have enough information for a clear understanding of your situation. Usually Prednisone greatly improves asthma in 12-24 hours, and 60 mg should be enough to make a big difference. Doctors are always told, "not all that wheezes is asthma." so it's important to have your doctor figure out why you still feel ill.

It's complicated...: Typically oral steroids reach their peak effect at ~8 hours after dosing. This doesn't mean that their work is done. The effect of steroids is cumulative -- daily use for 5-10 days will build on itself, helping more as time goes on. If you're two days into your course, you should begin to see some improvement in the next 24 hours. If not, you may have an infection, and i'd return to the doctor.

Varies....: The time for Prednisone to be effective varies but you should begin to feel better within a few days. If your symptoms are worsening, you need to be re-evaluated by your doctor or go to the er. You may need more intensive therapy if you are not improving. If you are smoking, you need to quit immediately. Good luck!
