3 year old has asthma attacks w/ retraction 3 days after onset of virus. had been on flovent 2xday for 2 weeks only then had another bad asthma attack after 3 days of new virus. was flovent ineffective bc of short duration or should look into new med?

Flovent is an anti-inflammatory agent used primarily for maintaining control between episodes. It may be used as an add on to albuterol or another med used to reverse bronchospasm. This suggests you need to discuss & understand how these meds work & how to use them. Talk with the doc.

A virtual consultation with Healthtap is available. From your description, your son may need a short course of oral steroids if he is still experiencing signs and symptoms of an asthma attack to treat underlying inflammation. His wheezing, bronchospasm may be reversed with Albuterol. This inhaler though does not directly treat inflammation. Watch for signs of shortness of breath, cough or wheezing
