Your family doctor may help, or refer you appropriately after evaluating what may be the cause of the lower back pain. Physical therapy may help, I do not know much about acri-puncture. Pain medication may be added as needed but physical therapy and regular back exercises may reduce need for pills.

If there is a fully ruptured disc causing weakness, atrophy, urinary compromise, or unrelenting pain, surgery may well be an option. Otherwise, physical therapy, acupuncture, and eventual back exercises can stabilize and improve over time. A physiatrist may be an excellent choice for conservative approaches.
