A member asked:

How serious is "ascus" finding on my pap test? does this mean i definitely have cancer? i had the same abnormal paps when younger, then normal ones, now most recently an abnormal one again. should i be panicking?

ASCUS means atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance. That is, the cells are not normal, but they do not indicate cancer or any other disease. This is so common and so minor that it can be considered a normal Pap smear result. Follow your gynecologist's advice, but don't worry about cancer.
