A member asked:

Ascus pap then normal then ascus. does this indicate cancer ..? hpv unknown. dr plans repeat pap six months. ok to wait ..?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Check HPV: If the last PAP was recent, the lab may still be able to do an HPV test on the specimen. It would help to determine the significance of the atypical cells. It is highly unlikely to be cancer, and repeating in 6 months is reasonable.
