Ive had 3.5cm nodes in my neck for years now post infection. several doctors have told me that often lymph nodes just dont recover after a bad cold and can remain enlarged permanently. is this true?

Yes, after having an upper respiratory infection such as a sore throat the lymph nodes can remain mildly enlarged and may not resume there normal size. What you have been told by previous physicians is correct. As long as they don’t continue to enlarge you have no reason to be concerned.
