Enlarged lymph node associated with infection is called reactive lymphadenopathy, which decreases in size once the triggering infection subsides. Swollen node or mass of 3.5 cm diameter demands a further explanation. Biopsy is advisable.

Persistent lymph node enlargement could be benign but it is best to have the Hematologist/Oncologist check it out to be sure
