A member asked:

Can lymph nodes remain permanently enlarged after a bad cold/infection? 4 years ago, way before covid, i had a very bad chest cold, it wasnt ebv or strep, and my lymph nodes in neck swelled and never went down. largest 3.5cm?

Enlarged lymph node associated with infection is called reactive lymphadenopathy, which decreases in size once the triggering infection subsides. Swollen node or mass of 3.5 cm diameter demands a further explanation. Biopsy is advisable.

Persistent lymph node enlargement could be benign but it is best to have the Hematologist/Oncologist check it out to be sure
