It depends on how low your hemoglobin is. A hemoglobin of less than 7 typically requires a blood transfusion. But, if you are destroying red blood cells, the etiology of the hemolysis needs to be diagnosed/treated or you can destroy the transfused cells as well. You need to see a hematologist and you may need to go to an ER if you cannot function for immediate treatment. Good luck!

If you are not able to stand up and function on your feet, it is likely that your Hemolysis is severe and your blood counts are very low. It is possible you may need a blood transfusion. If you cannot function, you should go to the emergency room or call your hematologist. Good luck.
