Ask your physician, surgeon or gastroenterologist if you can take metamucil daily to provide fiber without stirring up diverticulitis. Regular exercise can help.

Gradual physical exercise remains the safest in dealing with constipation, specifically avoiding prolonged seating. Otherwise would clear any possible laxatives with your treating gastroenterologist or primary care doc based on details of your condition and previous response.
