A member asked:

For a few days i have had an intermittent sharp pain in the lower right part of stomach. it only lasts for a few seconds and sometimes becomes worse with walking. leucocyte count is 11.4. is this a possible inffection. please tell me if its urgent?

As a 37 yr old woman, ovarian origin of this pain is a strong possibility. There are other possible causes. I would suggest that you see a gynecologist in the first instance, who will take a detailed history, examine you and perform various tests that might include ultrasound or CT scan. The WBC of 11,400 taken by itself is not strongly suggestive of invection, it is at the upper limit of normal
