A member asked:

High leukocytes (~18,000), although 4 months ago they were 6,000. i have no pain, no fever, & no infection symptoms. on the day the blood was taken: two panic attacks, fight with partner, heatwave and walking outdoors. could that increase my wbc?

Yes, stress leukocytosis becomes possible in above described conditions, over exertion and anxiety/ panic attacks specifically, however work up is usually needed to rule out medical reasons. At a minimum follow up with cell counts will be needed, in case stress related, WBC count should normalize quick.
