A member asked:

I previously had surgery to remove a fractured lateral sesamoid bone on my right foot 4 years ago. i still have pain, and my doctor after conservative methods and mri suggest removing the remaining sesamoid. are complications for that surgery risky?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Removing bones have consequences. Without knowing the cause of your on going pain is very dangerous. I recommend other opinions to help determine the cause of your pain. Removing the sesamoid bone has created an abnormal pull on the hallux. Big toe. I would wait until cause is known
