When you fast, the protein gets concentrated so more will show up in the urine. When you don’t fast, you dilute the protein so there is less in the urine. Your doctor should interpret your results since your doctor knows you best. Good luck to you!

I believe that people with glomerular kidney diseases have a steady rate of proteinuria whether fasting or not. Since your second urinalysis showed only a trace of protein, which most clinicians consider negative, I feel we can rule out glomerular kidney disease if the second urinalysis was accurate. However I'm unsure what caused 3+ protein in 1st sample.? Do 24 hour sample for total protein.
