A member asked:

Two teeth and the nearby gums hurt, but the dentist has been unable to find a problem. i am advised to go to a specialist, a periodontist, that my insurance doesn't cover. i have unexplained periodontal disease also, but this feels like the teeth?

Same nerve that sends sensory impulses from your teeth to your brain also convey impulses from your gums. You may also have a combined gum/root canal infection. Gum disease has been implicated in stroke/heart attack liver disease/pancreatitis/kidney disease, etc. Your Dentist made the right call. See a Periodontist. And don't be surprised ion you also have to see an Endodontist.

I'm not quite sure what your question is, but you'll need to see the specialist to determine the cause of your issues, insurance or not. Replacing missing teeth costs more than holding on to them.
