A member asked:

How often are renal cysts found on ct? i am 36 and told through ct scan w/ contrast that i have a "low density" 6mm lesion on my kidney that they believe is a cyst but too small to characterize. ultrasound after saw nothing. what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, small renal cysts are very common and not a cause for concern. Wish you good health!
