Before going to my yearly retinal specialist follow-up for my lattice and holes, i had been noticing some squiggly lights (not floaters) on the top left corner of my left eye. dr said the condition did not progress. what could cause these?

Your retinal specialist would be the best one to speak to this. Different light patterns could be associated with retinal problems but flashing lights are normally the greater concern. Ocular migraines might present with such a pattern, and these are generally benign and self-limited. It is reassuring that your doctor reported no progression.
