A member asked:

Recent endoscopy w/biopsy (antrum-only) showed focal im and was h-pylori negative. breath test ordered but faultywill repeat. serum test was igg- igm- but iga+(12.2). does this show active h-pylori infection? if not, what does the iga result mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, IgA antibodies have greater association with ulcer and later carcinoma. For info: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4725036/ Wish you good health!
