Although measurement of sympathetic nervous system activity is difficult, hormonal studies have demonstrated that ARBs and ACE inhibitors have no significant effect on sympathetic nervous system activity. I have worked with these converting enzyme inhibitors in numerous patients ever since they became available and have never seen inappropriate sympathetic nervous system overactivity in them.
