A member asked:

Is it possible that when you give someone valsartan or any other angiotensin receptor blocker their sympathetic nervous system gets more activated and they become more hyper aroused in response to emotional stressors?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Although measurement of sympathetic nervous system activity is difficult, hormonal studies have demonstrated that ARBs and ACE inhibitors have no significant effect on sympathetic nervous system activity. I have worked with these converting enzyme inhibitors in numerous patients ever since they became available and have never seen inappropriate sympathetic nervous system overactivity in them.
