I work with someone who takes risperidone 4 times a day. all 0.5 mg except 1mg in am. they just added the 4th dose of 0.5 mg at 1 pm. she seems out of it , not eating, low urine output and more frequent rigid body movements. is this from the med ?

Please take her to seek medical care. A metabolic imbalance is another possible cause. Keep her well hydrated, monitor temperature and breathing. There may be another condition that requires attention.

Yes, side effects of risperidone are likely. Your co-worker should contact the prescribed physician right away and she should skip the 4th dose in the meantime until she gets response from her doctor.

Until proven otherwise, I'd consider this a variant of tardive dyskinesia which can be a side effect of respiridone. This should be reported to her treating physician by someone like a family member or a caretaker. Is there someone like that you can contact?
