Risperidone: Risperidone has high tendency to cause weight gain but don't stop talk to your physician there are more option available medications similar to risperidone.

Exercise?: Sedation from 30mg valium/day may make you less likely to exercise. Being sedentary could certainly lead to weight gain. Risperidone may cause weight gain, yet your dose is not so high. Not sure what basic issues led to these prescriptions, or what other health conditions you may have. I suggest reviewing your overall health -- plus diet & activity patterns also -- with your physician.
