A member asked:

I recently had routine bloodwork done. my wbc was 11.7 and my platelets were 537. all other values were normal. is this cause for alarm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if you do not have fever, you may ignore the WBC. High platelet count suggests iron deficiency. You may take oral iron and multivitamin supplements. Wish you good health!
