Im asking for my mom. she has symptoms of diverticulitis with some abdominal pain (which has improved some), consipation and a 100 degree fever. we have a appt for her primary care doc on monday morning. its saturday at 6 pm. can she wait or er?

Recently, study showed that mild diverticulitis is usually self limited, no need for oral antibiotic(s). Your mom can wait til Monday. She can take oral laxative if constipation bothers her too much. Enema is contraindicated. She should eat clear liquid diet in the mean time. Go to ER if pain gets worse with nausea/vomit or high fever with shaking chill.
