A member asked:

I am 35 and was informed through ct scan that i have a "low density" 6mm lesion on my kidney that they believe is a cyst. i am really worried. are lesions on the kidney common? is low density a good thing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Kidney cysts are a benign collection of fluid in a closed space in the kidney and occur in about 25% of pt and usually found incidentally when being tested for another condition. Low density means it is not a solid lesion which would be a tumor. Nothing needs to be done about it . just an ultasound followup in a few years .
