Surfactant is a product that mimics a natural one made in the lungs as it matures. I doubt it has anything to do with your issues 30 years later. What is common for those infants that needed surfactant to survive is residual lung scarring and sensitivity to respiratory illness for their lifetime. The recent episode of COVID-19 is perhaps more likely related, but. additional information would be helpful. Do you have chronic lung disease, asthma or COPD? The treatment for premature lung disease is quite effective and as the lung grows and develops the early symptoms often improve . Watch for signs of shortness of breath, cough and wheezing.
