Echocardiogram is used to rule out structural heart problem, not directly used to study the cardiac arrhythmia unless you have the arrythmia when echocardiogram is done. Skipped or ectopic heart beats with normal echocardiogram is reassuring, you should be fine. Extensive heart rhythm study for symptomatic arrhythmia should include cardiac holter or loop monitoring or EP study.

No, 2d-echo heart cannot rule out abnormal heart beats. They may or may not happen during the test. Cut down on caffeine/energizing drinks/alcohol if using, follow up with your cardiologist. In case symptoms persisting a different test may be needed.
