In uk, smear tests check for hpv first - if negative, they don't check for cell changes. i tested hpv+ for 5 years. i have pain & spotting, but last test was hpv- so cells not checked. could the hpv have changed cells before becoming undetectable?

many variables are involved in the test. Site, amount technique lab accuracy and the persons immune system. Testing neg is a good sign. Re cell changes- discuss your concern with the oredering doc and may be she/he can ask for it if needed.
