My brother in law has covid, so far very mild, day 3 of symptoms, my sister continues to test negative w no symptoms,we all saw her the day before her husbands symtoms appeared, can she still spread it if testing negative? how long until we are safe?

Unfortunately, the home covid test is not reliable for omicron variants so you sister can still be an asymptomatic carrier. However, it is now day 4th after you saw her and the current variants have short incubation period (usually less than 5 days) so by tomorrow if you are still asymptomatic you should be safe.
