A member asked:

I was informed at a teaching hospital oncologist surgeon that i needed colon surgery for a cancer tumor. when i asked about the length expected to be removed i was told "one foot". is this a lot for a pretty healthy 70 year old man to easily handle?

This is not a very large colon segment to have removed. If you are generally healthy, it should be pretty straightforward surgery with low risk of complications. But of course you should ask exactly these same questions of the oncologist as well as the surgeon she refers you to. Good luck.
