26 year old female. found out today i have protein and blood in my urine (microscope blood.) very worried and have a referral to the urologist, but i guess im looking for some peace of mind. is it anything to be seriously worried about? thank you?

If urine is positive for both protein and blood, you need to see a nephrologist, not urologist. If you have lone hematuria, either macro or microscopic, urologist will see you first. Do not worry much at this time. If both protein and blood in the urine are confirmed with another urinalysis, nephrologist will carry out the investigation which likely includes a kidney biopsy.

These findings occur in many conditions and require proper history and physical exam to find a cause. likely chances are that it may not be anything serious.
