Are you referring to alcohol abuse? It takes at least 2 or more years for a fatty liver to morph into cirrhosis. Complete and permanent abstinence from alcohol on your part is called for. For best care a gastroenterologist or hepatologist is best to evaluate, advise and follow you.

No. Change from mild fatty liver to cirrhosis takes year. It is imperative that you lose weight, refrain from alcohol and acetaminophen. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Wish you good health!
