A member asked:

I recently received results of bloodwork resulting in total psa of .6 ng/ml but a free psa of 18%. proactive testing, no symptoms, 62, 200 lbs, physically active, non-smoker, 60 years old. is this concerning enough to seek other tests/treatments?

No, your total PSA is very low so the free PSA does not have any value in the prostate cancer screening. Your prostate is fine, no need for further testing.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your result is normal and not a cause for concern. Wish you good health!
