Lymph nodes in the neck & back of the head are often more noticeable because they are not buried within fat or deep tissues. They are generally pea sized at rest & enlarge when working. Skin irritation, URI's, throat infections, etc commonly trigger transient enlargement for weeks at a time. They are always there whether you notice or not. Less than ~ 1 cm I never worry about.

You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!
