A member asked:

My daughter started covid symptoms on 5/13. she tested positive on 5/16. she has only had a stuffy nose. nothing else. i tested her today and she is negative. is it safe for her to be around people now? is she still contagious even though negative?

At two weeks after the onset of symptoms, she is very unlikely to be contagious. If she has been free of fever for more than a day, without taking fever reducer, it is okay for her to engage in her normal activities. Wish you and your daughter good health!

If the symptoms are still present, there is some likelihood of transmission. The test kits are less accurate in detecting smaller viral loads which usually decrease after day 7. If there are symptoms, test negative, avoid contact until day 14 with vulnerable patients including the elderly.
